Seed library
The Green Office collaborates closely with the Hum-Sam library to contribute to UiO's climate and environmental work. In spring 2024 we launched the Seed Library, a kind of sequel to the Equipment Library. At the Seed Library students and staff at UiO can borrow seeds for free to support our effort to increased biodiversity in our city.
The seed library is located on the 1st floor of the Hum-Sam library in Georg Sverdrup's house. You can get soil and make our own pot for the seeds at the Green Office.
Abel's garden
Can we grow our own seeds to the Seed Library? Is it possible to scale up sustainable food production on campus? And can we use UiO's unused areas to do this? We explore these themes in partnership with the Hum-Sam library and Blindern Student Garden by growing vegetables and flowers at Abel's garden. Situated at the south facing end of Niels Henrik Abel's House, it's is a perfect place to take a break and pick some herbs to your lunch or tea. Welcome!
The HF Lawn Project
We work to increase the biodiversity on the university's areas and to let them be a place where students and staff can thrive. As part of this project, we explore how the "HF lawn" is used today and collect ideas and thoughts about what could be better. Pleas share your thoughts in this short servey Biodiversity at the "HF-lawn" .
In the autumn semester 2024, we will host a Sustainathon event where staff and students can brainstorm creative ideas and solutions on how the area can be designed in the best way for both people and biodiversity. This is a unique opportunity to share ideas that might influence the development at campus. There will also be a awarded a prize to the best proposal. Stay updated on Green Office's events.
